Last Season on MMS…
Helloooooo from California and welcome to a new season of Aggressively Positive Content Media™’s most popular (and only) show – Meg’s Miles and Smiles!
Last season on MMS (aka all of the time between now and my last blog post in April (oof)) I….
- Travelled to five more countries
- Hosted 14 family members (at the same time!) ranging from ages 18 months to 72 years old
- Signed a job offer!
- Went on an annual trip with the Newfound Book Club
- Signed up for a half marathon
- Decided signing up for a half marathon wasn’t enough of a challenge
- Signed up for a full marathon
- Worked dutifully with the Sligo squad to determine the pub with the best Guinness in Sligo. Fun fact, it was coincidentally also awarded the title of Best Pub in Ireland (by official people, not by us).
- Took part in some last-week-in-Ireland shenanigans (sunrise 4am hikes, sauna and swims in the Atlantic Ocean during a thunderstorm, just normal things)
- Flew ~business class~ back to America
- Started my new job!
So yeah, definitely a sleeper season – one of those ones you can skip and not miss any major plot points. Nothing of importance happened, like at all.
Why, Exactly, Is She Still Blogging?
I *could* dwell on the fact that I went MIA for almost three months. I would prefer, however, to instead look to the future and talk about all the fun that’s to come. Although at this point you may be thinking, “Megan, you’re back in America, wasn’t the whole point of this blog thing to document your time abroad? And by extension, if you are no longer abroad…why are you still blogging?”
- Yes.
- Great question.
You see dear reader, your girl Megan, in all her infinite wisdom, neglected to realize her domain name is on a yearly auto-renew cycle which was in fact auto-renewed about two months ago. So lucky for you all, as she has already (unknowingly) paid for another year of MMS, you will be the beneficiaries of a WHOLE ANOTHER YEAR of aggressively positive fun!
MMS: Season 2
And while the renewal fee was a large motivating factor in this decision, I would also like it to be known that it’s something I want to do. I have had so much fun writing, connecting with family and friends, and having my own little corner of the internet to share (for better or for worse) my authentically me self; I just don’t quite feel like my writing journey here is over yet. You may have to bear with some significantly less glamorous posts (to be fair, skiing the Swiss Alps and traipsing through Paris set the bar pretty high) but I do have a few ideas up my sleeve yet.
Surprise Announcement!
For one thing, I’ll be moving to a new, big, fun city. Oh wait, I don’t think I have officially announced that on here yet.
for the marathon, caught on
film
I’m moving to a new, big, fun city! Unless you are asking my mom, then I’m moving to a big, scary, dangerous city.
That’s right, friends, I’m moving to San Francisco!
So between a new, big, fun, scary, dangerous city, marathon training (where I anticipate a much higher emphasis on the Miles than the Smiles of MMS), retrospective travel posts I haven’t gotten around to yet, and a few other surprises, I think there will be plenty of content to keep churning for a little while longer. That is, of course, if you’ll have me.
On A Final Note
I am very excited to welcome you to Season 2 of Meg’s Miles and Smiles – featuring all the positivity of Season 1, but with significantly less sheep content.
Long story short, I’m happy to be here, and I’m just really happy you’re here too.
It’s so good to have you home! ❤️
